Louis Evans was our first elective medical student. He obtained funding from the British Geriatric Society and the Renal Association. His attachment consisted of a research project on eGFR. This was combined with surgical experience in Cardiff, Glasgow and Ghent.

Aimee Browning worked with us for 6 weeks over the summer holidays. During this time she worked on the 2017 application for our research into Sarcopenia and Metabolomics. She also helped write a paper on anticholinergic burden.

Andrew Ablett received a Vacation scholarship from Medical Research Scotland for £2000 over 8 weeks. His project is focusing on the outcomes of older people in an acute surgical setting with a low MoCA score

We welcome applications from interested students or doctors wishing to gain practical or research experience in surgery in the Older Person. If you would like to get involve, please contact your local OPSOC team member.
